East Kent College
Our team played a vital role in the development of East Kent College’s new “construction skills” block. We provided several key services as a subcontractor including groundswork, specialist r/c concrete, formworks, steel fixing, concrete pumping and placement, plus drainage works.
This was a complex substructure project as the site was logistically challenging with minimal room for construction works. The slab and reinforcing beams also had to bridge over a series of wartime tunnels that sat beneath the site.
We installed over 30t of reinforcing steel and poured 300m3 of concrete in two pours. Our team also carried out drainage works for the new slab and connected it to the existing site infrastructure. This involved pipework, manholes and a large attenuation tank.
We completed the project on time, on budget, and to the exact specification required. We also kept disruption to a minimum, even though the work took place during term time in a busy college environment.
This project demonstrated, once again, our ability to provide first class specialist support on large-scale construction projects.
